Information for Non-Emory Patrons

If you are not affiliated with Emory, you can still use the library.  Please be aware that our doors lock at 4pm every night and after that time you will not be able to enter the building.  However, if you enter before that time you may stay.  Please note that the computer lab and printers on level 2 (main floor of the library) are restricted to members of Emory Law community; faculty, staff and students.  Public use terminals are available on each floor for checking the online catalog, and terminals are available for checking email, etc., by the reception desk on the first floor of the Law School.  There are live Ethernet ports throughout the building and guests may sign out Ethernet cords from the Circulation Desk to use with their laptops.

Students & Faculty of Other Georgia Schools: Those patrons belonging to the GETS consortial group (GA Tech, GSU, UGA and Emory) may use the library's collections as well as borrow materials.  You will need to provide your school ID and complete a registration form at the Circulation Desk.  For other Atlanta area schools in the ARCHE consortial group, you will need to provide an InterLibrary Use card (which can be obtained from your home library's reference staff) and fill out a registration form prior to your visit in order to borrow.

Members of the Bar & the Legal Community:  These patrons may make use of our library's collections, but may not borrow.  Firms may contact InterLibrary Loan in order to borrow materials.

Law Students from Outside of Georgia:  For students who will be visiting Atlanta for summer or a vacation and wish to use the library, we ask that you have your home institution's library contact us to verify for us that you are an enrolled law student in good standing.  This information can be directed to the Access Services librarian, MacMillan Law Library, 1301 Clifton Road, Atlanta GA 30322 (404 727 8211).

General Public: Members of the general public may use the library's U.S. and E.U. documents collections any time the library is open before the doors lock in the evening.

Groups and tours:  The library does not offer guided tours, but groups from other law institutions may visit the library.  In order to maintain a pleasant and orderly learning environment and to avoid scheduling conflicts, we require reservations for all guests who plan to use the library with groups larger than five people.  To schedule a time for your group please call the Circulation Desk (404 727 6824) or the Reference Desk (404 727 6826).
