Computers in the law library are for use of current law students, staff and faculty and are password-protected. One computer is available for searching the library catalog on each floor. For guests who wish to surf the web or check their email, computers are available on the first floor of the law school outside reception.
Law School accounts and passwords are issued the Law School Information Technology (I.T.) Department. For assistance, please see the I.T. Help Desk on the 5th floor of MacMillan. For security reasons, we advise that students not disclose their passwords to others.
The computer lab on the first floor is generally open when the library is open and close 15 minutes before the library closes. Computers are available on a first come, first served basis and may not be saved or reserved in advance for individual use. We strongly recommend that users log off when stepping away from a lab computer for security reasons. Lab computers will automatically log off after 30 minutes of inactivity.
All law students are given a $35.00 printing allowance at the start of each academic year (about 530 pages). After this printing allowance is used up, the cost of printing is $.07 per page. For more information about printing, please see the I.T. pages on networked printing at ELS.
Students are provided network network storage space (see I.T. pages for more information). Files saved to local hard drives may be deleted without notice.
It is highly recommended that all users install virus protection software on their personal computers. The University licenses Symantec antivirus Software (http://userwww.service.emory.edu/~bjchapm/antivirus_faq/) as well as other software that Emory users can download.
