Raising Awareness of Don't Ask Don't Tell Issues
The Discussion of the Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy went well and several people on campus are sporting rainbow buttons with the slogan, "Will Work for Equal Rights."
Thanks to William Turner for filling in at the last minute for our scheduled speaker who got sick!
Mr. Turner explained the history of the military's position. We also discussed the policy's effects on gay soldiers and the fact that the government forces schools to allow military recruitment on campus by tying it to federal grants.
The discussion will be available on podcast if you missed it.
EGALA is currently working on several projects at the law school, with other Georgia law schools and throughout the Atlanta community. Of interest is our effort to create a gay law course here at Emory. These projects are still in their development phases. We welcome help and input from the law school community on any current or potential initiatives. Please contact us if you desire to participate.
