Wireless is available throughout the law school, law library, and North Decatur Building. Wireless services are provided by the main University's UTS group.
There are multiple ways to get access to Emory's wireless network:
Setup instructions for wireless are available from the main Emory IT site. Problems with wireless should be reported to the University help desk at 7-7777.
If you successfully connected once, you know that it isn't your username or password that are the problem. The issue may be that you are out of range of wireless or that the wireless network is full. Wireless is inherently less reliabile than a wired network connection.
If you've never successfully connected, please go back through the University Technology Services (UTS) very carefully and make sure that you've followed them exactly. Once you have verified that you have correctly set up the connection and you are still not able to connect, then most likely there is a problem with your Opus password. The easiest solution to this problem is simply to change your password. From a computer with network access, go to:
https://password.service.emory.edu
and change the password to a new one. Wait 5-10 minutes and re-try your wireless connection.
If you have not ever connected successfully to a wireless network using this computer and card, you probably need to uninstall and reinstall the card and its software. If you don't have a wireless network at home, and need a place to test, try the Panera over in Emory Village; they have free wireless (and decent sandwiches). You can also try connecting to the Cox hall network in the Cox Hall computer lab. Ask them for help to see if they can get you on that network.
If you're still stuck, see our help desk workers in the second floor lab.
If you want to start an electronic trouble ticket regarding wireless, go to help.emory.edu.
Q. I'm using a Mac and I keep getting this pop-up message whenever I connect to the wireless. Is there a way that I can stop this?
A. Yes, you can permanently accept the Emory Wireless certificate so you don't see the pop-up message again.
When you first see the pop-up (image 1.) don't automatically click "Continue". Check the box that says "always trust these certificates" and in the window below, choose from the drop down menu under "Trust Settings" choose "always trust" as you can see in image 2.
Q. What if I am still getting the pop-up even after doing the above?
A. You may have to delete any expired certificates and accept them again. If you go to Applications --> Utilities and click on "keychain access" (image 3.) you will see the certificates you have accepted in the past. You should see two that are labeled WPA-Radius1.Eu.Emory.Edu or WPA-Radius2.Eu.Emory.Edu. If you see any certificates with a red "X" over them, delete them. This means that those certificates have expired and may be causing the message to continue to pop up.
