Back to Organizations main Al-badeel, which means "Alternative" in Arabic, is a broad-based coalition of grassroots organisations and individual activists who seek to provide Arab society with an alternative to the traditional code of honour that governs and greatly restricts women’s and girls’ behaviour in this patriarchal culture. The Albadeel coalition focuses on the issue of "honour crimes," the punishment of women who break the strict code of behaviour expected from female members of Arab society.
