The Mission was founded in January 2000 and continues to support many programs run by Afghan women including Malalai Hospital, schools, orphanages, agricultural programs, demonstrations and functions in support of women's and human rights. The Mission is run by an active board of volunteer directors as well as by a number of dedicated volunteers. Its aim is to promote solidarity and cooperation amongst Afghan woman, and strengthening their capacity to enhance their self-reliance and attain their rights. Solace International Solace has built 7 schools in Afghanistan for over 3000 students. Solace currently employs over 180 women in textile related cottage industry in the northern Afghan province of Jawzjan.
