Richard L. Doernberg K. H. Gyr Professor of International Legal Studies international taxation
Richard L. Doernberg is the K. H. Gyr Professor of Legal Studies. After completing his undergraduate work at Yale University, Professor Doernberg received his law degree from the University of Connecticut and an LL.M in Taxation from New York University. He practiced law with Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays & Handler in New York City before coming to Emory Law School in 1980. Professor Doernberg has received several awards for outstanding teaching. Specializing in international tax law, Professor Doernberg is the author of numerous books and articles. He has authored International Taxation (West Group 2001), Essentials of United States Taxation (Kluwer Law Int'l 1999) (with Professor Howard Abrams), Electronic Commerce and International Taxation (Kluwer Law Int'l 1999) (with Hinnekens), Federal Income Taxation of Corporations and Partnerships (Aspen Law & Business 2000) (with Abrams), Federal Corporate Taxation (Foundation Press 1998) (with Abrams), and The 1996 United States Model Income Tax Convention: Analysis, Commentary and Comparison (Kluwer Law Int�l 1997) (with van Raad). Recent articles include: Electronic Commerce: Changing Tax Treaty Principles a Bit?, Tax Notes Int'l 2417 (Nov. 20, 2000), Hybrid Entities and the U.S. Model Income Tax Treaty, Tax Notes Int'l (August 23, 1999) (with van Raad); Electronic Commerce and International Tax Sharing, Tax Notes Int'l (March 30, 1998) and How Electronic Commerce Works Tax Notes Int'l (May 12, 1997) (with Abrams). He serves as a member of the Advisory Group to the OECD on the Model Income Tax Treaty, as a Council Member of the USA Branch of the International Fiscal Association, as a Senior Correspondent for Tax Notes International, a Contributing Editor for Intertax (International Tax Review) and a Member of the Editorial Board, Series on International Taxation (Kluwer Law International).
