Welcome to Bankruptcy. This is a course about debt collection, bankruptcy being merely the most comprehensive and sophisticated system of law governing the balance of power between creditors and debtors. The course will introduce you to the basics of debt collection, both under state law and under the federal bankruptcy system, as well as the complex interrelation between the two. While the primary emphasis will be on consumer and business bankruptcies, we will begin the course with basic coverage of state law debt collection practice.

The focus of the course will be on problem solving and the creative use of the law to meet the needs of our hypothetical clients.
