Professor Abrams Quoted in NY Times Article on Firm's Unlawful Conduct

An article in the June 21 issue of the New York Times says the admission last week by the big accounting firm KPMG of "unlawful conduct" in selling tax shelters may help shield the firm from criminal indictment, but it heightens its vulnerability to costly civil litigation. "The firm's willingness to help the government presumably can be used against it in civil actions," said Howard E. Abrams, a professor at Emory Law School, teaches contracts, federal income taxation: individuals, partnership taxation, and, on occasion, regulation of nonprofit organizations and evidence.
