Emory Law Professor Dorothy A. Brown was elected as a member of the American Law Institute. Her appointment officially began October 17, 2008. The American Law Institute, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa., was founded in 1923 to “improve the law and the administration of justice in a scholarly and scientific manner.” Elected members consist of judges, lawyers and law teachers selected on the basis of professional achievement and a demonstrated interest in legal reform. Membership in the organization is a distinct professional honor limited to 3000 members.
