All Emory Law Students are entitled to an Emory email address after they graduate. But, you can also get your permanent Emory address while you're a student.
Emory has created an email forwarding address-- you.pick.this.name@alum.emory.edu-- where you get to pick the username. You can keep this address forever. It is not a traditional email account, but rather a forwarding address that will forward your email to whatever address you choose.
For example, if you currently have a hotmail account, dooley@hotmail.com, you can set the alum address (dooley@alum.emory.edu) to send all emails to your hotmail account. When you move over to gmail, dooley@gmail.com, you just need to make one slight change and your email will be send there instead.
This way, instead of all of your friends having to change their address books everytime you change jobs or email accounts, you can just give them this one address now. You will never again need to send out an email that starts My new email address is . . .
This is very easy to do. There are only two steps.
Surf to this address and set up your alum account. Fill in your lastname and first initial in the box provided and click "find my record." Click on your name. Enter your birthdate. Continue to follow the links to pick your new emory email address, and the email account you want your @alum.emory.edu account to forward to. Voila: you now have your very own Emory Alumni Address.
NOTE: If you experience difficulties registering or encounter an error, please email aeaadmin@emory.edu for assistance.
If you are still a student, you may want to forward your current Emory email (@law.emory.edu) sent to your personal account (e.g. @hotmail.com ). I am assuming that you've followed step one, and your alumni account is already sending to your non-law school address, so all you need to do is make the link from your student account to your alumni account. That is very easy to do.
Just follow this link here, fill in your username and password and click login, then scroll to the bottom of the page and enter the address you want your email forwarded to, the yourname@alum.emory.edu, and click submit. It's that easy. You're done!
