The Office of Student Affairs is the primary liaison for students with administration and faculty at Emory Law School. We are responsible for enhancing the quality of life of students through support for student groups, academic assistance, counseling, and referrals to Emory University resources, while also providing faculty, staff, administration and alumni with necessary services and information to fulfill the academic mission of Emory Law School. Our office is also responsible for assisting faculty in administering final examinations, arranging Orientation, and overseeing matters regarding the Professional Conduct Code of Emory Law School.  We also organize many different events for students and bring in speakers on a broad range of topics.  As part of Academic Assistance, we deliver the Study Smarter series of programs on law school study skills during the Fall semester, aimed primarily at 1Ls but open to all students.

Dean Brokaw is the Dean of Students for Emory Law School and the Director of Academic Assistance. She graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University in 1982, with an A.B. in Classics. She was the principal speechwriter for Governor Thomas Kean of New Jersey before attending Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, Articles Editor of the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems, and a teaching assistant to Dean Jack Greenberg. Dean Brokaw received her J.D. from Columbia in 1990 and clerked for United States District Judge Robert P. Patterson, Jr. in the Southern District of New York. She practiced at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York and King & Spalding in Atlanta for several years, in the field of commercial litigation.
