Submissions

The Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal welcomes the submission of manuscripts for consideration for publication.

Content

The EBDJ primarily publishes manuscripts that focus on bankruptcy law and topics of interest to bankruptcy practitioners and scholars.

Most submissions we receive are in article format. However, in the past we have published submissions in a number of other formats, including summaries of recent developments in the Code, opinion essays and responses, symposium pieces, surveys, and book reviews.

We are only able to accept previously unpublished manuscripts (SSRN, circulations of working papers, and similar distributions are considered unpublished for these purposes). We accept submissions from authors of all backgrounds. However, we are unable to accept submissions from Emory Law students through the general submissions process.

Style and Citation

The EBDJ adheres to The BlueBook, A Uniform System of Citation. Submitted articles need not be received in this format. By the time of publication, articles will be edited to substantially conform to the standard.

Process

We accept submissions year round, however we are limited in the number of submissions we are able to publish.

Submissions to the journal will be reviewed by the editorial board soon after receipt. If accepted, the journal will contact authors to extend a publication offer. If the offer is accepted, the journal's editorial board will work with the author to make any necessary changes to prepare the article for publication. Offers are contingent upon a successful completion of the editing process and an acceptance of the appropriate licensing agreements.

Our authors retain ownership of their works.

Expedited Review

We attempt to review manuscripts as quickly as possible. During some parts of the year, due to increased volume and general academic schedules, the review process will be slower than other times.

If you have submitted an article for review and would like to request an expedited review, please inform the Executive Articles Editor (ebdjarticles at law.emory.edu).

Submitting

Submissions may be made electronically through ExpressO, by email (ebdjarticles at law.emory.edu), or through the mail.

Mailed manuscripts should be delivered to:
