Schapiro Meets with Emory Law Alumni at Savannah Bar Breakfast

July 2, 2012

On June 2, Emory Law Dean Robert A. Schapiro and Associate Dean James Elliott 63C 66L met with 21 attendees at Emory Law’s breakfast for Georgia Bar’s annual meeting in Savannah.

Highlights of the state bar meeting included the salute to Chief Justice George H. Carley and the Friday Board of Governors meeting and plenary session, says Bryan Cavan 67L.

Another highlight for Cavan was the Georgia Judicial Nominating Commission’s selection of candidates to present to the governor to fill Carley’s seat on the Georgia Supreme Court after his retirement.

“Dean Schapiro's visit with alumni at the breakfast meeting underscored one of his announced priorities—drawing on the experience and perspectives of the alumni community,” Cavan says.

Cavan also expressed confidence about the state bar being in good hands because of the leadership of Emory Law graduates: President Robin Frazer Clark 88L, President-Elect Charles L "Buck" Ruffin 80L, Treasurer Patrise M Perkins-Hooker 84L 84B and Past President Ken Shigley 77L.
