"The Changing Face of Reproductive Privacy"
Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Emory University School of Law
Sarah Weddington, one of the litigators who represented Roe in Roe v. Wade, will be this year's keynote speaker.
The 2013 LAWS Conference will focus on legal issues surrounding reproductive privacy. Reproductive privacy has recently resurged among the student body in light of the 40th Anniversary of the Supreme Courtís decision in Roe v. Wade. Women in our academic community would like to learn more about Roeís historical impact, the current manifestation of the doctrine, and the future implication for reproductive privacy cases.
The conference will host a group of informative and engaging speakers and panelists from a myriad of legal professions, including law firms, government agencies and public interest organizations. The conference panels will focus on the specific effects of Roe and its progeny on sub-populations of women that are commonly under-represented.
