Shapiro Receives American Jewish Committee Learned Hand Award
Keith J. Shapiro 83L will be honored Nov. 4 by the American Jewish Committee as recipient of the organization’s 2013 Judge Learned Hand Human Relations Award.
“AJC is advocating for civil rights and freedom all over the world, so I’m extremely honored to be selected for this award,” Shapiro told the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
The award was established in1964 to honor excellence and contributions to the legal community. It is given annually to “those who embody much of what the Judge represented: the rights of the individual and the importance of democratic values in an orderly society.”
Shapiro is vice president and chairman of the Chicago office of Greenberg, Traurig LLP. He was previously chair of the board and president of the American Bankruptcy Institute, a member of the Board of Directors of INSOL International, and chair of the Chicago Bar Association's Bankruptcy and Reorganization Committee. He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.
