Mock Trial Society Team Competes in Semifinals of White Collar Crime Invitational

Congratulations to Emory Law’s Mock Trial Society team for its performance at the 2009 National White Collar Crime Invitational, hosted by Georgetown University Law Center on Nov. 13-15.

The team—which included students Samantha Stilp 10L, Justin Victor 10L, Shankar Ramamurthy 11L and Oderah Nwaeze 11L—advanced to the semifinal round, defeating teams from Tulane University, Loyola University-New Orleans and the University of Texas. Ramamurthy also won an individual trial advocacy award for receiving a perfect score in a qualifying round.

The students were assisted by Jeanne Canavan 91L and Matt McCoyd 93L of the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office in Decatur, and Reuben Guttman 85L and Traci Buschner of Grant & Eisenhofer PA in Washington, D.C.

This is the first time Emory Law competed in this invitational.
