Emory Law Team Advances to National Moot Court Competition
Emory Law’s National Moot Court Society team was a finalist at the Southeast regional competition in Atlanta Nov. 22. The team went undefeated in oral arguments for all six rounds.
Team members Kelly Frey, Steve Merritt and Mike Stacy will now compete Feb. 2-5 at the National Moot Court Competition in New York. The team, comprised of the top third-year members of the Moot Court Society, is coached by third-year law students Ivan Mihailov and Hillary Gardner.
Mercer University School of Law, also a finalist in Atlanta, will join Emory Law in New York to compete against the top teams from 13 other regions. The competition problem addresses the constitutionality of the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act and the applicability of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act's tuition reimbursement provisions.
The National Moot Court Competition is sponsored by the New York City Bar and the American College of Trial Lawyers.
