Goodwin Named One of Time's "40 Under 40"
Emory Law alumnus Sen. Carte Goodwin 99L has been named one of Time magazineís ď40 Under 40,Ē highlighting rising stars in American politics. The article can be viewed here.
At 36, Goodwin is the youngest person serving in the U.S. Senate. He was appointed in July by West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin to the Senate seat vacated by the death of Sen. Robert Byrd.
Goodwin previously was an attorney with the West Virginia law firm of Goodwin & Goodwin LLP, focusing on commercial litigation, appellate advocacy and intellectual property. From 2005 to 2009, he served as general counsel to Manchin, chairing the Governorís Advisory Committee on Judicial Nominations.
Before working in the governorís office, Goodwin served as a law clerk for the Hon. Robert B. King of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He graduated Order of the Coif from Emory Law and received his bachelorís degree in philosophy from Marietta College in Ohio.List: <- Back to: News Releases
